Groundwater
Groundwater is high, close to the surface at the Compton borehole, but over ten metres lower than during winter, and falling thirty centimetres each day. Only minimal groundwater flood impacts are expected, with springs flowing and groundwater potentially still intermittently affecting a small number of properties close to the village green Stoughton. On Monday 13/05/2024 a band of rain is expected to arrive from the south west, which will continue into Tuesday morning. Between 10 and 30mm of rain could be possible. Groundwater could rise a centimetre or two on Monday, but should then fall again by Wednesday. Isolated showers are forecast Thursday and Friday 17/05/2024, possibly continuing through next week. Despite the rain and showers, groundwater is expected to continue to fall. Groundwater will still not fall fast, with minor flood impacts potentially persisting until June. If you have pumps to help reduce groundwater levels in your property, ensure they are operational. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. We will update this message by 18:00 17/05/2024.
